No clear price indication
At all public charging stations in Belgium, the charging rates must be clearly displayed before you start charging. Specifically, this includes the price/kWh, price/hour (or per minute) and any start costs. -
Hidden costs and surcharges
Charging additional fees when paying with a classic means of payment (payment card or QR code) without clear indication or charging unexpected transaction fees counts as an infringement. See also the point above.When using a charge card, roaming charges may apply in certain cases. The charging station operator (CPO) cannot possibly be aware of this. However, in the app or on the website of your charge card provider (MSP), these possible costs should be communicated transparently.

Mandatory registration or subscriptions
The AFIR legislation requires that consumers should be able to pay without a mandatory subscription using traditional payment methods such as contactless or bank card.This applies to all public charging stations activated as from 13/04/2024. For fast chargers (>50 kW) already installed before 13/04/2024, a regulation period is foreseen until 01/01/2027.
