Imagine you have solar panels, a home battery and an electric vehicle. You want to make the most of your self-generated energy and use your home battery efficiently when charging your car. For example:
Adjusting the charging power so your vehicle receives more energy when solar production is high, or less when other household appliances require power.
Fine-tuning settings so your home battery is used as efficiently as possible during charging.
Making full use of the smart features of your home automation system.
To do this, you — or an external application — need access to the charging station settings.
Please send us a ticket indicating your exact plans:
- Integrating your charging station into an EMS or home automation system to optimise interaction with solar panels or a home battery?
- Controlling the charging station via an app (such as MyEve by Alfen)
- Or another specific use
1. Connection to EMS or home automation system
To enable the connection, the charging station must be able to communicate technically with your chosen EMS/home automation system.
- Ask your EMS or home automation installer/provider for the technical requirements
- Send these requirements to MobilityPlus via this contact form
Based on this information, we will assess exactly which settings in your charging station need to be adjusted and we will also check whether any modifications to the installation are required. Any additional costs for modifications to the installation (including labour) will be at your own expense. We can provide a quote for this, or you can arrange for an installer yourself.
Once we have adjusted the settings, you will receive confirmation by email. You (or your EMS/provider) can then complete the integration.
As soon as you have completed the actual connection on your side, your EMS or home automation system will take full control of the load balancing. Until then, the charging station will automatically switch to a safety mode and charge at a significantly reduced speed.
Important to note:
- MobilityPlus does not provide technical support for external EMS/home automation systems.
- MobilityPlus is not responsible for the control of the charging station via external systems. If an external system causes problems with the charging station, you will be fully responsible for the costs of any repairs.
2. Connection to an app or for another use
In most cases, you will need the password for your charging station to access its settings yourself.
To do this, we first need your employer's consent. Once this has been obtained, we will also ask for your confirmation of the associated terms and conditions (see appendix at the bottom of this article).
What are the possible risks?
Functional issues: personal changes may slow down charging, cause error messages or alter expected behaviour, which can make support more complex.
Data consistency: deleting charging sessions may jeopardise reimbursement.
Loss of access and support: if you change the master password, MobilityPlus may temporarily lose the access required to assist you effectively.
What are the consequences of personal changes?
If issues occur, MobilityPlus can provide remote or on-site support. These interventions are not included in the maintenance contract and are therefore billable.
Incorrect adjustments may void your warranty.
Access to fast support may be limited until the original password is restored.
What should I do if I lose the password I set myself?
Contact MobilityPlus via this form to schedule a paid intervention. In many cases, the controllerboard may need to be replaced.
What are my responsibilities as an employee?
Only make changes if you fully understand what you are doing and the consequences.
Deleting charging sessions is strongly discouraged.
Do not change settings that could affect reimbursement of your home charging sessions.
Are interventions caused by personal changes free of charge?
No. MobilityPlus will restore the settings to the standard configuration. This intervention is billable, as it is not included in the maintenance contract.
3. Alfen Eve Connect app
The terms and conditions set out in point 2 also apply to the integration with the Alfen Eve Connect app.
Once the settings have been adjusted, we will provide you with a PIN code that you can use to log in to the Alfen Eve Connect app. Here, you can start and stop charging sessions, set a maximum charging speed for the charging point yourself, and enable solar charging.
MobilityPlus does not recommend this option for the following reasons:
- You will need a digital meter, and the Alfen charging station must be connected to the meter’s P1 port. If you are using an existing charging station, you are responsible for establishing this connection yourself, with or without the help of a qualified electrician.
- The Alfen station must usually be connected to your Wi-Fi via a UTP network connection to your modem. If this is an existing charging station, you are responsible for establishing this connection yourself, with or without the help of a qualified electrician.
- Support for the Alfen active load balancing functionality is provided by Alfen, not by MobilityPlus.
- Alfen active load balancing is not an EMS system and is not compatible with other EMS systems that intelligently control the charging station.
- The maximum capacity selected in the Eve Connect app applies only to the charging station, and therefore not to the household’s total electricity consumption. Other, simultaneous consumption can therefore still cause high monthly peaks.
- The features in the Alfen Eve Connect app can only be used when your smartphone is connected to the same network as your charging point (i.e. only when you are at home).
As an alternative for monitoring and managing your Alfen charging station, we recommend the MobilityPlus Energy Manager Home.
This option includes:
- The following features for smart control of your charging station:
- Peak load limitation (including ‘follow-the-peak’)
- Charging using solar energy (including comfort mode)
- Simple configuration in the MobilityPlus app
- Full support and service from MobilityPlus
- Retention of warranty and service terms
- No personal responsibility for technical settings or security
