It is important to report your charging station because this way the competent power grid operator can gain insights into the occupancy rate of the charging points.
Through the notification requirement, the power grid operator can find out which stations are used the most.
This way, sensitive locations can be identified and the power grid operator can make adjustments to the power network to optimise them.
The notification obligation is applicable to all charging posts connected to the low-voltage grid.
Specifically, if you have a new charging station installed, you have to report it to your power grid operator.
Attention, there are differences in specifications per region:
Flanders
Notification requirement for all charge points with a charging capacity of 5kW or more: both public and private charge points
Notification can be done via Fluvius.
Wallonia
Notification duty for all charge points with charging capacity from 3.7kW: both public and private charging points
Notification can be made through ORES, RESA, AIEG and AIESH.
Brussels-Capital Region
Notification duty for all charge points with charging capacity from 3.7kW: both public and private charging points
Notification can be made through Declaration of a charging station - Sibelga
Currently in Flanders, there is a tolerance period until 31 December 2023. This is to give everyone a chance to declare their charging point. After this period, administrative fines will be issued for unregistered points.
For consumers in Wallonia , no specific date has been communicated, but here too the obligation to register applies to both private and public poles.
